World war 2 was one of the largest worldwide military conflicts known to man and this war affected most of your strong nations that are around today. The war started on September 1, 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded the country of Poland. As a result of this military conquest, some of your strong miliatry forces in Europe, like the British Empire, Soviet Union and France, declared war on Adolf Hitler and Germany. Eventually this world war would drastically affect so many nations that many countries teamed up to battle the strong force and agenda of Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist German Workers' Party.

These fighting nations were eventually organized into two miliatry alliances that opposed each other called The Allies of WWII and The Axis Powers. The Allies of World War 2 included nations like, Britain, France, United States, Soviet Union, Brazil, Canada, Ethiopia, South Africa, and the list goes on. These were nations that were either invaded by the Axis countries or were threatened with possible invasion. The Axis Powers included the three nations of Germany, Japan, and Italy. This agreement between these three nations took place after the Tripartite Pact was signed on September 27, 1940 in Berlin, Germany.

After a lengthy six years of war, world war 2 was ended in a victory by the Allie nations. The war ended with the formal surrender of Japanese army on September 2, 1945 after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As a result of this major defeat, the United Nations were formed on October 24, 1945 to prevent another global conflict, of this magnitude from happening. Also, the United States Of America and the Soviet Union rose as world superpowers and this set the stage for the beginnings of the Cold War, that lasted for the following 46 years. At the end of world war 2 casualties were at 60 million soldier and civilian deaths.
